Final Performance Evaluation

As a whole, I felt our choreography piece really came together and went very well in our final assessment. Naturally, there were small mistakes in the steps or with the timing but mutually we felt it was the best we had ever done it. After watching the video back even the moments we thought hadn't gone too well looked effective and a lot of the piece did appear how we had envisioned. A section that stood out to me was the duet between me and ben  as it was the cleanest and most fine-tuned, we worked very well together and ben's choreography really emphasised the way we can compliment each other's movements.

I also allowed this to inspire my movement and choreographic ideas as it was very interesting to see how someone else created movement. I know in the future I would like to take in more outside inspiration as you shouldn't have anything blocking your creative imagination; being open-minded is so important as it can allow you to come up with things you may have never thought of otherwise.

Personally, I felt like elements of what we set out to achieve were successful however, there were definitely some challenges along the way. I'm aware that some members of the group struggle more with the creative side of choreography, this became an issue as it left a lot of pressure on certain members to come up with more material in small amounts of time. I also think it would have been nice to have more time to collectively work as a group to create movements however not everyone would always be available and that could also mean we would get behind deadlines we had set ourselves.
Putting this aside I think when we did all come together to choreograph the end section it was really nice to see all of our different styles and ideas come together. As in this final section we wanted to portray the feelings of regaining trust and acceptance and I think actually implementing teamwork in the choreography process really helped when it came to the performance. After all, that was the only section we really all came together and worked on as a group.
We also said from the beginning we wanted to end the piece on a positive note and show the potential for growth and healing after a sexual assault experience, and I think the movements and the trust we showed in each other really helped to emphasise this.

I think I have learned I definitely have a lot more creative ideas than I thought I did, I also found myself, particularly enjoying working with someone else to create choreography as I feel when you work in a similar way there are boundless opportunities because as one person has an idea it sparks a thought in the other and that allows for an even larger range of unique movements.
