Motif Development

The first motif we developed was the awareness ribbon, so we have found a few different ways to use our arms, or bodies in order to create the pathway of an awareness ribbon, this quite obviously links to the stimulus as we are raising awareness for sexual abuse and its effects. We will demonstrate this motif multiple times throughout the piece, at first with canon and scale in play.  Some ideas we have had would mean we each do it at different times with 4 of us completing the movement much smaller and at a higher speed and then Emma as a soloist would be executing it much larger and slower then also using retrograde to reverse her movement instantly. With the added use of embellishment throughout to develop the simple movements of the arms into pathways in the body and even formations. There is an example of this in the video linked below.

Another Motif we have developed is touch, which is a small collection of movements in which we stay in contact with each other, mostly a hand on another's shoulder, or holding hands and then collectively moving as one. This was to hopefully portray trust and so we will use it more as the piece progresses in order to show how you grow and build up your trust in others again whilst you are healing. We obviously will use a lot of repetition with this motif, also I think using it in cannon could be effective as perhaps it that may emphasise that not everyone heals at the same rate and time as we arrive in contact with each other at different times. We will also then further embellish the movements perhaps adding more with the body or the legs.

We have multiple other motifs throughout the piece including, Pushing movements, Striking movements, and the use of Curves, I also think that as the choreography develops naturally we will expand the amount of motifs we have as the ideas form organically.
